Online shopping isn’t my friend.
I have proof.
First we will start with Boden.
I had such high hopes.
They were quickly squashed.
Although that white t-shirt…the ONE with out the X…I love it!
It makes the whole sad situation worth it.
The flower cardigan is shorter than I had hoped but I still like it.
And that cardigan with the U…that means undecided.
It is still in transit. Was back ordered.
That’s a good sign right?
Then there are my Ruche purchases.
It might not look like I struck out as much as I did with Boden…
but I don’t love the two pieces I kept.
I did love the romper…I know…go ahead and laugh.
But it was too short and too low where it counts.
And unfortunately romper season has passed us by.
I think this means I need to stick to Nordstrom, Anthropologie, JCrew Outlet and Walmart ;)
Sunday: Ate out…Mexican restaurant
Monday: homemade pizza (had lots of pizza topping leftovers from beach trip)
Tuesday: Stuffed Cabbage (Nourishing Traditions cookbook)
Wednesday: Dinner out: Thai restaurant
(got home late from CRM work and had a headache…not at all in
the mood to cook dinner)
Thursday: Husb had a dinner meeting and I had a homemade personal pan pizza
I know…a lot of pizza this week ;) Used a pita for the crust.
Friday: Chicken Marsala (thanks Esther)
Zucchini Cakes (Nourishing Traditions cookbook)
Saturday: Dinner at friends home for a birthday celebration!!!
I’m learning that I have to really stay on top of this.
I forget so easily!
And boy are you guys in for a treat when you see how bad we have been!
Too much eating out!
We’ve been eating a lot of fresh peaches around here.
But mostly, husb looks forward to peach season because he LOVES him a fresh peach pie.
One good reason to deprive your husband of his favorite treat…
when you finally get around to making it he will makes lots of groaning noises and tell you this is the best peach pie you have ever made ;)
I thought I had already told you guys about the fair…but I was so wrong.
I totally forgot to publish the post :(
So let me tell you about our trip to the fair!
We started off with the wild Alaskan pig races.
And then dug into the food!
Don’t worry about Flyn…he’s just giving me his serious face because I am about to leave his camera on the picnic table where we will forget about it and then leave :(
Not to worry…God had our back…a sweet couple found it and then found us to return it!
Husb started off with his favorite…an elephant ear!
I had the best corn dog ever…hand dipped!
Along with the fairs famous lemonade, fried pickles (so delicious…you have got to try them if you ever get a chance…and thank you Kristel for bringing them into my life!), a taste of chocolate covered bacon (wasn’t bad!), and a
half third of Esther’s funnel cake.
I so could have downed a second corn dog and plate of fried pickles!
Don’t worry…we made time to visit the animals.
And did a little goofing off along the way.
And look who else went with us!
Natalie from Mexico!
Natalie from Studio Del Creador!
Natalie from “I have to live far away so that I can get a break from my crazy friend Leah”!
But don’t worry…it’s not working…we are already making plans for our next trip down to crash her Mexican pad ;)
This is a pic Husb took of us as we waited in line for a ride.
Yes…us girls road a ride called the Super Shot.
I don’t know why we did it.
The boys egged us on.
They had already rode it and I have a feeling they just wanted to laugh at us as we screamed bloody murder and watched our lives flash before our eyes.
It was scary and we were shacking afterwards.
And then we felt old…cause there were 10 year olds riding it and every other ride possible.
We ended the night with the iconic Ferris wheel.
Which made us feel really old…cause even it felt a little faster than usual.
Oh man…I love the fair!
Tasha, Kristel and I browsed the clothing at Walmart the other day.
I have a cute Norma Kamali shirt from Walmart and was interested in seeing what they had after reading this post.
The end result?
An entire outfit was born!
First I got the black blazer at Walmart (Norma Kamali) for $20!
Then I ran to the J.Crew outlet store next door and snagged a pair of toothpick skinny jeans for $65!
I wanted them last year but they didn’t have my size.
And I’d just like to point out the irony of me buying an item of clothing named toothpick…I used to get so mad when the kids in elementary school called me toothpick.
Anyhow, I also snagged a cute scarf.
Doesn’t look exactly like the one above…it’s white with polka dots and cute tassels…but it isn’t listed on the J.Crew website.
Right now I’m pairing my three finds with my Shade tank top and Toms wedges!
I love a good outfit!
So, remember the CRM auction we had earlier in the year?
Well…husb won us a two nights stay at a beach cottage in Seabrook!
We finally got to cash in on our winnings last week.
Seabrook is beautiful and wonderful and awesome!
Basically, its a beach neighborhood full of beautiful homes, a small grocery store, and cafe.
Some people live there year round…but most buy the homes for vacation purposes and rent them out the rest of the year.
This was our cottage.
I didn’t take pictures of the inside…but you can see some here.
And then there were the BIKES!
Free of charge cruiser bikes.
They even had tandem bikes…
which was Husb’s dream come true!
Yes, I rode it with him and I have to admit…it was fun ;)
And then there was the beach.
And despite these pictures…the sun did come out and it warmed up!
First time I’ve ever seen sun while at our coast!
And look who was back in the states and got to come with us?
Our Natalie from Mexico…you remember her right?
And then, there was food.
Lots and lots of food!
Pizza on the grill…inspired by my friend Leah.
A delicious olive garden inspired meal by Tasha.
I took a picture but it didn’t turn out :(
And homemade chili rellenos.
All and all a great trip.
Great food, great friends, great beach house!
Thanks sweet husband….thanks for winning it for us.
OH YEAH! I almost forgot!
One of the newly built homes is being featured in Coastal Living Magazine!
For $10 we got to take the tour and it was so worth it.
Such a beautiful home.
Tasha did a great post on it…so you can see pictures here.
I love doing happy birthday posts…
but I shot myself in the foot by starting them because I’m really the worst at remembering birthdays.
I really am.
However, I’m hoping Serena will forgive me because even though technically her birthday has been over for half an hour…
I haven’t gone to bed yet so I’m still considering it her special day ;)
That’s Serena…the pretty one on the left.
You might recognize her from this picture.
Oh man…this picture cracks me up!
We were pickling jalapenos.
It never hurts to be safe when slicing and dicing hundreds of hot peppers ;)
Serena and I became friends through Husb.
You see…her parents are his God parents.
They grew up together (along with her three sisters).
And she freely admits that she taught him to say “NO WAY” as a young child.
Not sure how I feel about that one ;)
But I’ll forgive her…
she is one of the kindest friends you will ever meet.
She loves a good Jane Austin movie and is a killer cook.
And guess what…she is having her first baby and I can’t wait to cuddle him/her.
I have to say him/her because her and her husb aren’t finding out the gender…till the day of!!!!
And yes…we have asked on several occasions if we could be present at the ultrasound…we even promised we wouldn’t tell ;)
But she is sticking to her guns on this one.
And I think I love her all the more for it.
Happy Birthday Serena!
See ya Saturday to par-tay!
We went on a beautiful beach vacation last week but I want to share my dinner review quickly before I forget!
Be back with vacation details soon!!
Sunday: Dinner at the fair! (again)
Tuesday: Bacon & Spinach Pasta
Wednesday: Leah’s American Tacos
(this means…tortillas, ground beef, cheese, olives, lettuce, salsa ;)
Thursday: Tasha’s Olive Garden dinner at the beach house!
Friday: Natalie made us authentic chile rellenos at the beach house!
Saturday: Yaki Udon at Boom Noodle (so delicious!)
Do you guys watch Top Gear?
Husb and I have been watching it for a little over a year and love it!
Ladies…it is a show about cars.
However, its hilarious.
Some how they made a show that is entertaining for both husband and wife, man and woman, car lover and car driver ;)
Here is a clip of one of our favorite episodes.
The challenge was to buy a car in Africa with a budget of about $3000.
The rules were that the cars they bought couldn’t have four wheel drive or be built in any way to go off road.
They then had to drive the cars across a part of Africa to try and prove that you don’t necessarily need four wheel drive in that terrain.
And of course try and prove which one of them got the best deal of a car.
