he is risen

25 Apr

We came home this weekend.
Spent time with family, ate a big, yummy supper and went to church.
I miss our church😦

Today was a big day for Mars Hill.
All of the campuses met at Qwest Field for a huge blowout service.
The entire city of Seattle (and surrounding areas) were invited.

Traffic was at its finest…so we were super late.
However, as we walked up to the stadium, in the familiar Seattle drizzle…you could see all the people.
And hear all the singing.
All those voices worshiping Jesus.
I wont lie…I might have had to choke back a few tears.
It was beautiful.
The gospel was preached, Jesus was praised, people were baptized and we rocked out.

He is risen…he is risen indeed!

25 things you may or may not want to know

22 Apr

I’ve been tagged by my dear friend Esther.
And because I love her to pieces I will spill my guts😉

1. Where were you 3 hours ago? At my parents house…playing with the dog outside I think.
2. Is there anything pink within 10 feet of you? There is pink on my laptop case (which is adorable and perfect and handmade…which I think makes it couture right…by Tasha)

3. What are you wearing right now? Black Shade tee, gray Molly Moon sweatshirt, paige denim, black Toms.

4. What are the colors of your bedroom walls? builder beige
5. Who is the last person you sent a message or comment /BBM? My little sister Gretta.

6. What does your last text message say? “I’m at the house with Dad…picking Eric up from airport at 8″

7. Can You Taste The Difference Between Pepsi And Coke? yes, Coke is the only one for me…except for good ol’ RC cola.

8. Is your hair curly or straight? straight

9. Which is the hardest thing you ever had to do? having confrontational conversations (yuck) and keeping my own crazy in check😉

10. Favorite 2 color combination? I’m into monochromatic right now…so just about any color in 2 tones.

11. What is your favorite accessory? I like Esther’s answer “my wedding ring”…but for the sake of being original I will my accessory trinity…purse, Chapstick, water bottle. Can’t leave home without them.

12. Which current celebrity’s style do you admire the most? hmmm…I don’t really have anyone in mind.

13. What is your favorite fashion store/shop? Anthropologie & Nordstrom

14. When was the last time you drove out of town? Does moving to California count?

15. With the exception of the computer, what can you hear? The tv

16. What was the last thing you bought? Gardetto’s and M&M’s at the airport. I pour the M&M’s into the bag with the Gardetto’s…which is delish except for when you make the mistake of getting the italian flavor Gardetto’s instead of original flavor. Kinda gross mixing chocolate with italian seasoning.

17. What is the first thing you think of when you wake up in the morning? I’ll get up in 15 more minutes

18. Favorite Food? this is a hard one…I love food. But there is nothing better than a good home cooked meal.

19. Biggest turn off? Lying

20. What do you always have on you/wear? Again…I like Esther’s answer “wedding ring”…but I will say chapstick

21. What does your screen name mean/ how did you come up with it? This is a dumb question… doesn’t everyone just use their name these days?
22. Favorite style of top/blouse? The perfect combo is cute and comfy…not always easy to find
23. Favorite TV show? We are really diggin Justified right now…but I still love Fringe

24. What is a favorite TV show from your childhood? The Torkelsons

25. What does your dream bedroom look like? Big room, wall of windows with a tree outside of it, a collection of bedroom furniture that has been been thrifted and given a new life, giant walk in closet, beautiful big bathroom with built in tv at foot of soaking tub, soft calming colors with just a few pops of color. Should I keep going?

20 Apr

What I was watching 2 minutes after the cable guy left.

A cute “European” air market that we found.
Although, I had driven passed it 10 times before passing it off as a sketchy little fruit stand.
I’m learning not to judge a book by it’s cover here.

And I am cooking again!
Last night it was Carbonara w/ salad.
I will share the Carbonara recipe soon…it was delish and easy.
I don’t temper eggs well, but this recipe worked for me.
Tonight it’s Ribollita in the crockpot.
A big thanks to Esther for hooking me up with a Food Network Magazine subscription.
It has been just the thing to help me get back in the swing of things in the kitchen.

I treated myself to a manicure AND pedicure today.
It was great.
Again, at first look the place seemed a little sketch…but it redeemed itself with a pedicure that included a paraffin wax, hot stone massage (which always scared me but happened to be amazing) and an hour fifteen minutes of treatment.
All for $35.

And as I’m sharing random information with you I might as well tell you that I went to Pure Barre yesterday.
The same place Esther and I went back home.
Yeah, that place kicks my ass.
And it was much harder to follow the instructor this time…which meant my true uncoordinated colors were showing.
Yep, I looked like a fool.
And was sweating bullets.
And realized as I was standing up at the cash register afterward that my face resembled the tomato from Veggie Tales.
However, I’m not going to let a little humiliation stop me.
I want tight abs damn it!
Sorry for the potty mouth today😉

Signing off before I start throwing out the f-bombs😉

git er done

13 Apr

The electrician got here at 8:06am.

The dishwasher has been delivered.
(by the way…I am not impressed with Home Depots delivery service…pretty lame and frustrating if I do say so myself.)

Interesting dishwasher setup huh?
I know your all jealous😉

And the most exciting development today?
The furnace repairman is just leaving after fixing a gas leak (scary right?) and broken furnace.
Praise Jesus for furnace repairmen!
The silicon valley area has been chilly the last two weeks.

I’m super grateful for the furnace after days and nights of being cold…however, it’s kind of a scary contraption right?
It’s gas, therefore has a pilot light which is basically like having a fire roasting under your old woodin house.

Today I started organizing the kitchen…which triggered a bit of an emotional breakdown.
However, God reminded me that he has my back.
This wave of repairmen has been comforting.

Ok, that’s today’s status update.
Time to get myself back to work.
Hope you’re all having a great Wednesday.
Love you guys!

weekend over

11 Apr

I’m on a train right now.
Yeah, we do that sorta thing these days.
Take the train to and from the airport.
Kinda cool, although if I had to do it by myself I’d prob end up at the wrong stop.
I’ve never been good at public transportation.

We were back in Wa state this weekend.
Husb had a dirtbike race and I had a date with the dirtbike wives😉
I was lazy and ate cake.
Husb raced 60 miles and came home with battle wounds.

Which I bandaged for his crazy, manly self.

Now the weekend is over and it’s back to waiting on delivery men that never show and unpacking dishes that have nowhere to go.

sneak peak

7 Apr

Just a sneak peak of our kitchen.
One day those cabinet doors will be removed and the dishes will be organized.
But for today they are out of the box.

slow progress

5 Apr

Hi Friends.
I’m in my new home.
It’s a goofy little 1930’s craftsman home.
Sounds adorable doesn’t it?
Well, it is.
If your not the one living in it.
Or if you just purchased it and have suitcases of cash to pour into a contractor who cares.
This little house was being remodeled when we first looked at it.
However, after moving in it is obvious that either the landlord is cheap, the contractor doesn’t care about the details (like taking door knobs and hinges off doors and cabinets BEFORE painting) or both.
Probably both.
The quirks of an older home might be cute back in my comfort zone of Washington.
But make me deal with them in California?

There have been tears!

However, the boxes are slowly being unpacked, money has been spent at Ikea, a new stove and dishwasher have been ordered, and life is moving on.

The electrician fixed our broken outlets this morning and the Comcast guy should be here any minute to hook up cable and Internet (thank you Jesus).
Um, Comcast just left…have to call someone else to come set up the line before they will come back to hook up cable/Internet.
Perfect example of how this place is stressing me out!
I’m still thankful to Jesus tho.
I have a roof over my head, food to eat (well, access to food…the kitchen hasn’t been unpacked yet) and a savior that loves me.

And Beyonce came over for a visit.
What more could you ask for?
